Greetings Families and Friends!
A traffic change is coming our way that may affect your visits to The Home this summer.
Beginning July 5 and continuing through September 6 (inclusive), Corydon Avenue will be closed to vehicle traffic between Daly and Lilac Streets on Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. as part of a community initiative designed to encourage pedestrian activity and create a vibrant, walkable neighbourhood experience.
During these closures, vehicle traffic—including Winnipeg Transit buses—will be rerouted through surrounding residential streets. As a result, parking in the area may be more limited and finding a convenient parking spot may take a little extra time.
We are always supportive of efforts that bring people together and encourage residents and visitors to enjoy all that our neighbourhood has to offer. At the same time, we recognize that what is beneficial for some can create challenges for others, particularly for those visiting loved ones at The Home.
If you plan to visit on a Sunday during the summer months, we encourage you to allow a few extra minutes for travel and parking.
Additional details regarding the road closure and traffic rerouting were published in the Winnipeg Free Press on Saturday, June 20 (Summer debut of Open Corydon) and we expect other local news sources will be providing advice as well.
Please know that you are always welcome at The Home! Do come, visit with your loved one and while in the neighbourhood, take in all that “Open Corydon”, as it is being called, will have to offer on beautiful summery Sundays.
Warm regards,
Sherry Heppner
Development Coordinator
P.S. Should the City make any changes to the traffic plan throughout the summer; we will do our best to keep you informed.
