Hard as it is to believe, but it is time to start thinking and talking about the Fall season. In that regard, I share the below important advice from my colleague, Justin Lagace, Staff Development, Infection Prevention and Control.

Hello families and primary decision makers!
While I am still awaiting information from Manitoba Health regarding the specifics of the fall vaccine rollout, I wanted keep families in the loop. I will begin next week calling some families of Residents who are still eligible for their pneumococcal vaccine. For further information on the Pneumococcal vaccine, click here to access an info sheet. If you do not receive a call from me in the next week or so, it is because your loved one has already received the vaccine in the past (or has declined it). For reference, about 80% of our Residents have already received a pneumococcal and do not require a second dose.
Coming this fall, We will be offering Covid19 and Flu vaccines. Once I have the specifics from the Province, I will forward along info sheets to families, and we will begin making calls for consent.
Rest assured that I am keeping up to date with who received which vaccine when, and who has opted out in the past. These two vaccines usually roll out in the Sept-Oct timeframe for your reference.
I have not received information yet regarding the new RSV vaccine and whether it will be funded/offered to all Residents of long-term care. I will also keep you in the loop on that!
For now, enjoy the rest of summer, and I will be in touch! Any vaccine related questions can be directed to myself, contact info below. 🙂
