Have you circled June 7 on your calendar? If not, get out your red felt pen to mark the day as it is time for the 4th annual Jessie Avenue Block Party!
This is a true community event when The Convalescent Home joins with our Jessie Avenue neighbors to officially kick off the summer season. The party runs from approx. 2pm until 7pmish. There will be BBQ’ing of hotdogs, serving of soft drinks and ice cream, and other summertime treats! YUMMMM! The BBQ’ing will be going strong between 2pm and 4pmish; after that – the grill will go cold until next year. There will also be a bouncy castle (for the little ones!), a face painter, fabulous music and more!
We are very grateful to our City Councillor, Sherri Rollins, for her gracious support through a City of Winnipeg Per Capita Grant, which is helping to cover some of the costs of our neighborhood block party. Her commitment to building strong, connected communities is deeply appreciated!
We provide this advice both as an invitation for you to join us with your loved one, AND as a courtesy forewarning of the parking situation. Jessie Avenue will be closed for one block (between Hugo St. N. and Cockburn St.) and no parking will be permitted. The expectation is also that there will be more noise than usual with music, and little and big people having fun and simply being neighborly. The event is truly a wonderful kick-off to summer and being outdoors again!
We will be escorting those of our Residents who wish to go outside so that they, too, can soak up the sun and enjoy the party atmosphere (we are all praying hard for sunshine and warmth!).
