We are thrilled to share that we have begun work on the prototype for a reimagined 4-bed shared room, an important milestone in our Rooms to Thrive initiative!
We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Residents who kindly agreed to relocate temporarily to other rooms to allow this work to proceed, and to the families and friends who supported this transition. Your patience, understanding, and cooperation are deeply appreciated.
This prototype room will serve as a showcase, demonstrating what is possible when privacy, dignity, and comfort are thoughtfully prioritized — even when space must be shared.
It represents our vision for what Resident rooms can and should be: environments that honour each individual and support quality care every day.
And this is just the beginning.
Once the prototype is complete, 14 additional shared rooms remain. We cannot stop now and we need your support to continue this next important phase of Rooms to Thrive. Our accumulated funding has been depleted, and it is with your additional financial contributions combined with those of philanthropic donors that will allow us to finish what we have started.
How You Can Help
Donations may be made online through our Donate Rooms to Thrive link to CanadaHelps, where you can use a credit card, PayPal, or Google Pay to make your contribution. You may also choose to establish a recurring monthly gift or donate in memory, or in honour of a loved one who calls The Home, their home.
For those who prefer to give by cheque, donations may be made payable to The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg and mailed to 276 Hugo Street North, Winnipeg, MB R3M 2N6.
Thank you to all who choose to support Rooms to Thrive (past, present and future). Every gift — large or small — brings us closer to reimagining every Resident room and ensuring spaces that reflect the dignity, comfort, and respect they deserve.
With sincere appreciation,
Sherry Heppner
Development Coordinator
