We are always grateful for the kindness and generosity our families and friends show to the Residents of The Home. Those thoughtful gestures are part of what makes our community such a warm and caring place.
From time to time, a Resident may ask a visitor to pick up a favourite treat or make a small personal purchase on their behalf. While we know these requests — and the willingness to help — come with the very best of intentions, we kindly ask families and friends to make purchases only for their own loved one.
We also ask that food, treats and beverages brought into The Home be shared only with your own family member or loved one. We completely understand the natural inclination to offer something to another Resident nearby — after all, sharing is a lovely gesture! However, each Resident has individual dietary and health needs, including allergies, modified diets, swallowing concerns, or other restrictions that may not always be apparent. A Resident may also be unable to recognize or communicate these restrictions themselves.
For these reasons, even the kindest gesture of sharing a treat, snack or beverage could unintentionally affect another Resident’s health or well-being. Similarly, there may be occasions when a Resident requesting a personal purchase is unable to reimburse someone for the item.
Our request is simple: when bringing in or purchasing something special, please keep it just for your own loved one. Our team will be happy to help if you are ever unsure about what is appropriate.
Thank you for helping us look out for one another while respecting the individual needs, dignity and well-being of every Resident who calls The Home, home.
