Fall Vaccine Update!

As covid and flu activity in the community is expected to increase in the coming months, many of us (including myself) have been patiently waiting for news regarding fall Flu and Covid vaccines. Today, we finally have some news to share!

Health Canada, just yesterday, approved Moderna’s newest Covid19 vaccine which has been updated to target the omicron KP2 variant. We expect deliveries in the coming weeks, so either myself or someone from the team will be calling eligible Residents’ contacts for consents. For those who are curious, the latest Pfizer vaccine is still pending approval from Health Canada. Some Residents who are not eligible for the vaccine will be Residents who have confirmed infections of covid19 in the last 6 months – rest assured we are tracking these things!

For the influenza vaccine, things are very similar to last year. We anticipate deliveries in the next few weeks and hope to get every Resident who wishes to receive their flu shot vaccinated by the end of October.

We encourage your review of the following public health fact sheets explaining each of the vaccines:  Covid19 Vaccine Fact Sheet and Flu Vaccine Fact Sheet (just click on the underlined name to access the sheet).

For some Residents, we have existing consents for flu/covid vaccines from discussions we’ve had this summer, so keep that in mind if you do not receive a call.

Feel free to reach out should you have any questions!
