Did you see it? This past Saturday (July 18), The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg was featured in the Winnipeg Free Press in an inspiring article titled “Care Beyond Compare.” The story celebrates what so many of you already know—that our Home is so much more than a place of care. It is a place where compassion, dignity, friendship, purpose, and joy are part of everyday life.
The article shines a spotlight on the extraordinary people who make our Home so special: our incredible Residents, dedicated staff, supportive families, generous donors, and the broader community who continue to stand beside us. Together, all have helped create a place where Residents are known, valued, and truly feel at home.
It also recognizes something many of you have seen firsthand. While the care provided within our walls continues to be exceptional, portions of our 120-year-old Home are still waiting to reflect that same warmth and sense of belonging.
That is why our Rooms to Thrive campaign means so much.
Through the generosity of donors and our community, we are transforming Resident rooms and shared living spaces into bright, welcoming environments that promote comfort, dignity, connection, and quality of life. Every renovated room creates a space where Residents can feel more at home, where families can spend meaningful time together, and where staff can continue providing exceptional care in surroundings that reflect the respect our Residents deserve.
If reading the article leaves you feeling proud of the Home your loved one calls home, we invite you to consider becoming part of this transformation. Every gift—large or small—helps us continue creating spaces that honour the lives and stories of those we are privileged to serve.
Donations may be made online through our Donate Rooms to Thrive link to CanadaHelps, where you can use a credit card, PayPal, or Google Pay to make your contribution. You may also choose to establish a recurring monthly gift or donate in memory, or in honour of a loved one.
For those who prefer to give by cheque, donations may be made payable to The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg and mailed to 276 Hugo Street North, Winnipeg, MB R3M 2N6.
Together, we are building more than renovated rooms. We are creating places where memories are made, friendships flourish, and every Resident can experience the comfort, dignity, and joy they deserve.
Thank you for the trust you place in us every day. It is an honour to care for your loved ones, and we are grateful to have you as part of our Home family.
We are indeed the Little Home That Could AND DOES!
With sincere appreciation for all of you,
Sherry Heppner
