A Friendly Summer Reminder

Summer is finally here (with GUSTO!), and we know many families and friends are looking forward to weekends at the lake, camping trips, vacations, and making the most of Manitoba’s beautiful summer season.

Before everyone heads off to their favorite summer destination, we’d like to offer one small but important reminder.

When you have a chance, please check in with your loved one to ensure they have an adequate supply of the personal items they use every day. Toiletries such as toothpaste or denture cleanser, shampoo, deodorant, razors, and other essentials—as well as seasonally appropriate clothing, footwear, and other personal belongings—help keep our Residents feeling comfortable, confident, and at home.

While you’re planning for time away, we also kindly ask that you ensure we have an alternate emergency contact on file whenever possible. Should an urgent situation arise, having another family member or trusted friend we can reach provides valuable peace of mind. If you haven’t already done so, please share this information with your loved one’s nurse at your convenience.

We know life gets busy, and with so many things to remember before heading away, it’s easy for even the smallest details to slip through the cracks. We certainly never expect the unexpected—but it’s always wise to be prepared. As the Boy Scouts have long reminded us: “Be Prepared.”

Thank you for helping us ensure your loved one has everything they need while also keeping us connected should an urgent need arise. Your ongoing support and partnership mean so much to our team and, most importantly, to the Residents we are privileged to care for.

Have a wonderful, safe, and memorable summer!

Warmest regards,

Sherry Heppner
Development Coordinator
