Visitor Access to The Home – Mandatory Swipe Cards

Effective January 1, 2024 – it will be mandatory for all visitors (including all Residents’ families and friends, both regular and infrequent visitors) to have a swipe card to gain access to our Home. We are adding this safety measure to provide additional security for our Residents and staff. Our staff do not know everyone who attempts to enter our building and may therefore unknowingly and unintentionally allow an unauthorized person in, creating risk for our community. A visitor in possession of a swipe card will, at the very least, have their name recorded and who they are visiting, giving us some comfort in “knowing” who they are and that they have a legitimate reason to be in the building.

The process to obtain a card is simple and takes just a couple of minutes:  visit our Business office (between 8:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., Monday to Friday – excluding statutory holidays) to request a swipe card and provide a $25.00 deposit (cash or cheque – payable to The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg). When the card is no longer required and returned to us, the deposit will be refunded to you.

Thank you for your anticipated cooperation.
