COVID-19 Update – January 17, 2022 – The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg

Good day.

For the start of this week, we have a total of 12 active positive Resident cases. All impacted folks reside on our 2nd and 4th floors and are experiencing only mild symptoms of the COVID-19 virus. We did, today, test/swab nine additional Residents (from these same floors) and anticipate their results to be returned to us within the next day or so (timeline is dependent upon the busyness at the lab testing centre). The individual test results will be communicated directly to families, once received.

For our staff, we have two members who are away due to the COVID-19 virus, and we continue to be managing well in providing full care to all Residents.

Our next update to families/friends is planned for Thursday, January 20.  If need arises to communicate earlier – we will be in touch.  As always, should your own loved one experience any health status change, you will promptly and personally be contacted with advice.

There was never so true a statement as:  “A world without care workers, is a world without people.” We are all ‘carers’ at some point in our lives – be that to the young, the mid-range of age, or those who are “mature” in years. And then, there are those special folks who take on the task as their profession. We recognize and bang our pots/clap our hands in honor of ALL who care!

Keep warm! Keep positive! Keep health-safe!

Warmest regards,

Sherry Heppner
Development Coordinator
